ABOUT US!!
Whether you have been in the Parksville Newcomers for three years and are wondering what is in store for you if you join the Alumni or just browsing our website – read on and find out what we do and a bit about how we do things.
We are a social club that encourages the continuation of friendships made whilst you were a member of the Parksville Newcomers. Couples, singles, old and not so old, male and female are all welcome to share the activities that we offer. Membership is static during the year as the members leaving the Parksville Newcomers are our only source for new members – this happens in the Spring of each year.
As a club, we are not as structured as the Parksville Newcomers, tho’ we have a similar executive to keep a watching brief on all happenings. Generally things happen at the will of the membership – if you want to have “horseshoes” as an activity – it can be arranged (hopefully you would agree to be the convener and get the activity “off the ground”)
We encourage new activities and one time special events. We encourage activities away from the Parksville area so that we may get to know more of the
There are monthly meetings or activities, held presently (September to May inclusive) in the hall of St. Columba Church. Membership dues are $10.00 per person per year with our year starting in September.
We hold elections for a new executive each May – we elect a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Director of Activities and in the future may include a Director of Publicity.
If you are thinking of joining us when you graduate from the Newcomers – welcome – we need you and your input, your ideas and your help to keep this being the vibrant group it is.
At the beginning of January 2007 our membership stood at 135 people!!
